Auckland city based crew the Tomb Raiderz was formed midway through 2004 by Esspro, international beat-man of mystery; and Askew of the TMD crew, graf legend returning to his origins in MCing. Later joined by Mega, a young lyricist of the beer-stained, student-swerving streets of the Otago, the group went on to record the self titled street album which was sold on the road during the Hook Up tour and later on distributed by Disruptiv Music. The opening track on the street album I would’t Lie to ya featured the raw uncompromising vocals of underground Christchurch based MC Miss Dmyze AKA Nikki Montana who eventually came on board completing the crew’s MC line up. With production and rhymes covered the missing component was found when BFM’s Trueschool Hip Hop show host DJ Mouli joined the crew mid 2005 just in time for their debut performance at Bring The Ruckus at 4:20.
Currently Tomb Raiderz are working on a follow up Mixtape for release at the end of 2005 and a full length album for commercial release early 2006.
